Resignation from Cloverleaf Baptist Church

 Dear Cloverleaf Family,

Serving as your pastor for the past nearly eight years has been one of the greatest joys and privileges of my life. It has been a delight to witness God’s Word at work—transforming hearts, shaping lives, and deepening love for Jesus.

It is with a heavy heart, therefore, that, upon the request of a majority of our deacons, I announce my resignation as your pastor, effective February 28. Over the past few years, as I have led our church through seasons of growth and change, I have faced growing criticism from some, and it has become apparent that my convictions on some secondary issues are out of step with those of many in our congregation and leadership team. I realize that remaining in this role would risk pointless division in this precious church family over matters that are not central to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

It is better for the health and unity of Cloverleaf for me to step aside. I am confident that God will continue to lead this church and use you for His glory. As for my family, we trust that the Lord will guide us to where He wants us next.

My final Sunday will be February 23.  During the next several weeks, I will continue to teach and preach as I help our leaders prepare for a time of transition. I do not leave our church with any regrets, but only gratitude for the immense generosity, kindness, and love you have shown to me and my family.

I love you. I am praying for Cloverleaf’s continued growth and faithfulness to Christ.

In Christ’s love,

Pastor Sinclair
